Lekwuwa, or Emmanuel as he is called, is an immigrant student raised in a suburb just south of Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Aba, Nigeria, he came to the United States when he was just a baby, and has been living in Massachusetts ever since. Emmanuel attended Boston College High School, where he served as an Arrupe Mentor to local 7th graders and as a Senior Mentor to incoming 9th grade students, helping the young students acclimate and adjust in their transitions to middle and high school, respectively.
Emmanuel has a diverse range of interests, from economics and computer science to literature and history. At Yale, Emmanuel is a member of the Yale Black Men’s Union and A Leg Even, and works as an intramural sports referee and as an Office Tech for Yale Information Services.
Fun fact: Emmanuel has lived in the Boston area since 1998 and has never been to any professional sports event (e.g. Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, or Patriots games)."
